Summary

It is difficult to obtain stable 3$B!>(JD images by carotid 3$B!>(Jdimensional CT$B!>(JAngiography (3D$B!>(JCTA) for every patient, and 3D$B!>(JCTA tends to be affected by the contrast medium and method of injection. We, therefore, investigated how the contrast enhancement is affected by various protocols, observing the time density curves in the case of our original phantom and of Dynamic Scan.
Experiments were conducted to determine the relationships between contrast enhancement and image quality of reconstructed images, the Hounsfield unit and threshold unit by changing the diameter size of the vascular model, and contrast enhancement and contrast medium injection protocols.
The results showed that 3$B!>(JD images are clearer when the Hounsfield unit is over 300 HU. When the vascular model's diameter becomes smaller, the Hounsfield unit decreases. The higher the Hounsfield unit, the more prominent this tendency became. When the Hounsfield units of two contrast media were same, the vascular model's diameter affected the 3$B!>(JD image; the smaller the size, the higher the appropriate threshold unit became. We succeeded in eliminating individual differences in the 3$B!>(JD images by quickly injecting a large volume of low$B!>(Jdensity contrast medium.
