Medium-term goals (Fiscal years 2013-2018)

The Hokkaido government, as the founder of Sapporo Medical University, has
established a set of medium-term goals consisting of the six fundamental objectives
outlined below for the university to contribute to the provision of medical care and
the maintenance and improvement of health in Hokkaido and continue the
university’s role in bringing pride to the local community through the spirit of its
foundation. The university has also formulated a plan for FY 2013-2018 as a
concrete measure to achieve these goals.

Basic objectives

1. Contribute to regional medical services in Hokkaido by training creative medical

personnel with well-rounded characters.

2. Form an international research base through the promotion of world-class

research with an enterprising spirit.

3. Fulfill the roles expected of a key Hokkaido hospital hospital through the

development and provision of highly advanced medical services.

4. Be actively involved in the establishment of a system that provides medical care

to the residents of Hokkaido by sending medical professionals to local
communities.

5. Return results of research to society by providing information regarding the latest

studies and medical care, and further promote cooperation between industries,
the university and the government.

6. Contribute to the advancement of international medical and health care through

the promotion of international exchanges.

建学の精神の下、札幌医科大学が、北海道の地域医療の確保や道民の健康
の維持増進に貢献し、道民の誇りとなる大学であり続けることを目指すため、本
学の設置者である北海道が、次の６項目を基本とする中期目標を定めています。

また、本学ではこの中期目標を達成するための具体的な取り組みとして、中期計

画（平成25年度～平成30年度）

を定めています。

Code of Conduct

1. We will make contributions to Hokkaido, Japanese society and the international

community through medical science as well as healthcare science.

2. We will strive to achieve the highest levels of research, education and medical

care.

3. We will abide by law and respect bioethics, research ethics and social ethics.
4. We will disclose information beneficial for both local communities and society.
5. We will respect human rights, personalities and individuality and create an

environment free from discrimination and harassment.

6. We will firmly respond to antisocial behavior that threatens bioethics and social

ethics.

7. We will protect the local and global environment.

中期目標（平成25年度～平成30年度）

1. 創造性に富み人間性豊かな医療人を育成し、本道の地域医療に貢献する。
2. 進取の精神の下、世界水準の研究を推進し、国際的な研究拠点の形成を目

指す。

3. 高度先進医療の開発・提供を行い、本道の基幹病院としての役割を果た

す。

4. 地域への医師派遣等を通じ、本道の地域医療提供体制の確保に向け、積

極的な役割を果たす。

5. 最新の研究・医療に関する情報の地域社会への提供、より一層の産学官

連携等を進め、研究成果の社会還元に努める。

6. 国際交流を推進し、国際的医療・保健の発展に寄与する。
