INVITATION
It is a great pleasure and honor to invite
you to the 4th Cell Stress Society International (CSSI) Congress on
Stress Responses in Biology and Medicine, on October 6-9, 2009 in
Sapporo, Japan. The cellular stress response is one of the most
fundamental mechanisms for all living biological organisms. Cells
live and maintain homeostasis by confronting and responding to
different stressors not only in their internal, but also in their
external milieu. There is increasing interest in research on such
cellular stress responses in the field of biomedical science.
Since such stress responses are considered to be evolutionarily highly
conserved in almost all species of biologic organisms, some research
could cross over to as yet different biological categories from E. coli
to mammals and from basic to clinical medicine. In this congress,
a distinguished international panel of speakers will discuss the most
recent scientific progress on cellular stress responses from various
and diverse points of view. This congress will also be jointly
held in close with cooperation of the 4th Annual Meeting of the
Biomedical Society for Stress Response (BSSR) that was organized in
Japan in 2006.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I hope that
this joint meeting will contribute to promoting great progress in this
field of biology and medicine. In addition, participants
can enjoy the early month of October in the Sapporo area as well, when
it is possible to enjoy sightseeing and to experience the wonderful
nature and atmosphere of Hokkaido.
